When Peter Löf took over ICA Nära Gribbylund in February 2026, he had a clear vision for developing the store. Just eight months later, the result is a complete transformation.

At WICA, we cannot help but be impressed by the lifespan of the previous refrigerated cabinets. Some components had been in service for decades, and there were even parts originating from a divided Berlin, still in use. Fascinating for those of us with a special interest, but also a clear sign that it was time for a change.

Today, the store is almost unrecognizable.

Together with the other involved parties, the open wall cabinets have been replaced with modern display cases featuring doors with transparent frames, combining maximum product visibility with high energy efficiency. The open freezer islands have been replaced with models with lids that provide improved lighting and help reduce energy consumption — something that can be seen on the electricity bill.

The dairy section has also undergone a major upgrade. Small glass doors have been replaced with 180 cm-high glass surfaces that showcase the product range and create a completely new atmosphere in the store.

The combination of modern refrigeration and freezing solutions, new refrigeration technology, and a strong commitment to the store’s continued development has made ICA Nära Gribbylund a true success story. A textbook example of what is possible when the right investments meet the right vision.
